Evolutionary Biologist

Simon A. Levin is the James S. McDonnell Distinguished Professor in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University.  He is also the George M. Moffett Professor of Biology and director of the Center for Biocomplexity at the university.

His research specializes in using mathematical modeling and empirical studies in the understanding of macroscopic patterns of ecosystems and biological diversities.

Professor Levin is a former President of the Ecological Society of America and the Society for Mathematical Biology. His numerous awards include the Kyoto Prize in Basic Sciences, the Margalef Prize for Ecology, Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement, and the U.S. National Medal of Science.
